Bradford, G. Kenneth
G. Kenneth Bradford, PhD, is a licensed psychologist in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is an adjunct professor at John F. Kennedy University where he teaches courses on Existential-Contemplative Psychotherapy and psychological assessment integrating Mindfulness and Phenomenological perspectives. He offers advanced training, workshops, and lectures in the United States and Europe, integrating Existential therapeutic sensibilities with the principles and practices of Buddhadharma. Ken studied Existential Psychotherapy as a protégé of James Bugental beginning in 1988, joining him as a teaching associate in 1994. His clinical background also includes training in European and Relational Psychoanalysis, Focusing (with Eugene Gendlin) and Nondual Therapy (with Peter Fenner). Ken has been a vipassana student since 1975, being most indebted to the instruction of Joseph Goldstein and Ruth Denison. He met his root dzogchen master, Chogyal Namkhai Norbu, in 1980, and has also studied with other masters of Vajrayana Buddhism, including, Tsoknyi Rinpoche, Tarthang Tulku and Dudjom Rinpoche. His recent publications address Natural Resilience, Therapeutic Courage, Unconditioned Presence, Psychotherapeutic Eros, and the Tensions between erotic desire and security needs. He co-authored Listening from the Heart of Silence: Nondual Wisdom & Psychotherapy, Vol. 2 (with John J. Prendergast) and his most recent book is The I of the Other: Mindfulness-Based Diagnosis and the Question of Sanity.
