These essays, originally presented somewhat informally and orally, are personal reflections on an East-West encounter. Each statement represents the views of a Western scholar who found something of value in a place where perhaps he or she had not expected to find it. However, these authors are not converts to a new ideology or religion who have become ardent enthusiasts, now interpreting every experience from that perspective. Some of the authors whose words you will read encountered Rev. Moon and Unification thought with great caution, perhaps expecting to find something either bizarre or unacceptable. In almost every case, they found more of significance in Rev. Moon's vision and achievements than they had expected. In different and individual ways, each found something of value in a world perspective that they might have easily overlooked.
